If you are a merchant situated in the EU, your customers residing in a country outside the EU are eligible for tax-free shopping.
Six out of ten travelers are not aware they are eligible for reclaiming their VAT which can be seen as an opportunity for you to be the first to tell them.
Once you spot an international customer in your shop, inform him about VAT refunds. In the Netherlands, the VAT is 21%, which is nearly a fourth of the purchase price. The only thing you will have to do next is give your customer a vatfree.com leaflet together with the purchase receipt. The vatfree.com leaflet will explain how to get back the VAT over all EU purchases.
Please note! Your international customers are eligible for a VAT refund if they spend a minimum amount at your shop. In the Netherlands, the threshold amount is €50 including VAT. In other EU-countries, threshold amounts vary.
